Former Major League Baseball player and Philadelphia Phillies GM Rubén Amaro Jr. is reigniting the love of hitting for former players with his latest endeavor: Sluggball, a reimagined version of baseball.

Cofounded by Ruben—who made history as in 2008 as only the second Latino to hold a general manager position in the MLB—and his brother David Amaro, combines a unique 4-v-4 situational hitting format with a patent-pending scoring system to create a fun and nostalgic, yet competitive, experience.

Sluggball has already attracted significant support from notable figures like six-time MLB All-Star Kenny Lofton and Evan Kaplan, managing director of MLB Players Inc. Collaborators include the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA), Victus Sports, and Blast Motion.

Following a successful invite-only pilot event in 2024 at Trenton Thunder Ballpark, Sluggball’s 2025 debut schedule will span multiple states:

  • May 10: Trenton Thunder Ballpark, New Jersey
  • June 14: Huntington Park, Ohio
  • July 13: Eastwood Field, Ohio
  • August 24: Trenton Thunder Ballpark, New Jersey
  • September 13: SIUH Community Park, New York
  • October 11: Crushers Stadium, Ohio

Streamed in over sixty countries, Sluggball is the latest chapter in Rubén’s storied career as a leader in baseball and a testament to Latino influence on- and off-the-field in sports.
