Fred Rivera is the executive vice president, corporate secretary, and general counsel for the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team. Previously, Rivera was a partner and the managing partner (2013-2017) at the Perkins Coie law firm in Seattle. He also served as vice president and officer in charge of internal investigations at Fannie Mae (2006 to 2008).
Rivera began his legal career in 1993 as an Honors Program trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice in Washington, DC. He also serves as an independent board director, currently serving on the boards of Delta Dental of Washington, Heritage Bank (NASDAQ) and OAC Services Inc., and previously served as a board director of NW Sports (ROOT SPORTS Network).
An active community leader, Rivera has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including the United Way of King County (Board Chair, 2019-2020), Rainier Scholars, the Seattle Colleges Foundation, Downtown Seattle Association, Association of Washington Businesses, and Washington State Leadership Board. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Northridge and graduated from the Gonzaga School of Law. Rivera also completed the Executive Leadership Program at the Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.
