Sports Emmy Award-winning producer Jaime Gutierrez has significantly influenced numerous sports features across the NBA, NFL, NASCAR, FIBA, and the Olympics.
Drawing on his expertise from playing basketball and passion for both sports and sports media his drive fueled his creativity, and passion for storytelling, Gutierrez embarked working at NBCUniversal/Telemundo for over seven years and contributed to several big events such as the Super Bowl, Olympics, FIFA World Cup, and countless other properties working with various high-profile talents.
He later moved on to ESPN spending two years working as a creative manager for the likes of the Scott Van Pelt show, SportsCenter, NBA Countdown, Monday Night Football, and College Game Day. There he helped shape and mold the tone and feel for what everyone would enjoy during the broadcast on how the stories were told and images that were seen.
Now he holds the title as head of communications for FIBA in the Americas and overseas all content and communication aspects of international basketball related to the region on all its events.
He also had the unique opportunity of directing his first feature documentary, The Asylum, in early 2017. The documentary explores Miami Senior High’s rise to national stardom during the late ’80s and early ’90s and the controversies that plagued the program, ultimately altering the trajectory of many lives. Uncovering and giving a voice to this untold story would take Gutierrez and his team six long years, filled with personal and professional highs and lows.
Gutierrez was born and raised in Miami and as he always says, “I’m just thankful that this world of media and sports, has allowed me to see the world, meet extraordinary people, and enjoy the passion I have for sports.”
